Expansion

At the time of the inauguration of the new Parliament House, women wrestlers who were going to hold a mahapanchayat there were detained by the Delhi Police. Other wrestlers including Vinesh and Sangeeta Phogat were sitting in a serious posture in the bus, but after some time their laughing photo went viral. After some time, it was found that the deep fake image was created by tampering with the photo through Artificial Intelligence (AI).

This had a great impact on the image of wrestlers at that time. Similarly, fake videos of some leaders have also been made viral. Now security agencies including Delhi Police have received inputs that miscreants can disrupt the upcoming Lok Sabha elections by using deep fake videos on a large scale. Riots can also be organized during elections. In such a situation, Delhi Police has started preparing itself considering it as a challenge.

The Intelligence Fusion Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of the Special Cell is preparing itself to such a level that in no time it can be ascertained which videos are genuine and which are fake. IFSO Deputy Commissioner of Police Prashant Gautam says that fake deep videos and images being created through AI have become a big challenge. It can harm the society and the country on a large scale. By the time the videos are discovered to be fake, a lot of damage has already been done to the victim.

Technical investigation required

Senior police officer said that to get rid of this problem, a team of technical expert policemen is being prepared in IFSO. It is necessary to investigate deep fake videos in a scientific way in a very short time, so that people can be told about the videos and images. Delhi Police is developing tools for this. The help of technical experts of the country will be taken. Deep fake videos and photos will be detected and removed from social media.

Videos of leaders were also made viral
